All of our firewood undergoes quality control procedures to properly ensure, cleanliness, moisture content, and is processed with care to ensure consistent burn quality—whether you’re heating your home, enjoying a backyard fire, or stocking up for camping. We are committed to sourcing our wood responsibly while maintaining the performance and quality our customers expect.

Real Impact.
Before delivery, our firewood is cleaned using a firewood trommel with a double-screen design, allowing us to separate fine material from larger pieces. This process removes loose bark, dirt, and excess debris, resulting in cleaner firewood that’s easier to handle, store, and burn. It’s an added step that helps us maintain consistent quality across every order.
Material collected during screening is carefully sorted and repurposed rather than wasted. Bark and fines are reused in applications such as mulch and other practical uses where applicable, while larger wood pieces are set aside and bagged for convenient kindling. This approach allows us to maximize the value of every load and supports our commitment to responsible, sustainable, and efficient operations
What about our Sawdust?
From the start of our processing operation, sawdust is collected directly into plastic-lined tote bags to keep it clean and dry, straight from the circular saw, that means no oils or contaminants. By controlling moisture at the source, we’re able to maintain a consistent, usable product that’s suitable for a variety of agricultural and animal-care applications.
This sawdust can be repurposed for use in stables, barns, chicken coops, and other animal environments where absorbency and cleanliness matter. Capturing and reusing sawdust in this way allows us to reduce waste while providing a practical by-product that serves a real purpose within the community.
how do we store our firewood?
At Holy Smokes Firewood, we don’t just process quality wood—we go the extra mile to make sure it arrives clean, dry, and ready to burn.
To stand out from the competition, we store our firewood on access mats to keep it fully off the dirt, mud, and standing water. We also hay stack our wood on these mats, allowing the sun to hit it and the wind to blow freely through the pile—helping ensure our firewood is properly dried and meets our quality control standards.
That means no soggy bottoms, no grass or dirt mixed in, and no debris coming along for the ride—just clean, solid firewood the way it should be.
These extra steps take more time and effort, but it’s part of our commitment to doing things right. The result is better-looking wood, a cleaner burn, and a product you can feel confident bringing into your home or stacking by your cabin.
